It is commonly known that exercising means health. Yet, almost half of the population of Poles, in particular middle aged people, are not physically active on a regular basis. We spend time at home, in front of our TV sets or computers. Several hours a day spent in a car or at a desk at work is not good for our health, either.
The problem of insufficient physical activity refers also to young people and even to children. If we add stress and an unbalanced diet leading to overweight and obesity to insufficient physical activity, we can be certain to have some health problems.
And these problems are, unfortunately, serious. We suffer from pains in muscles, joints, bones; we get headaches, constipation, flatulence, swollen legs; we gradually become weak and drowsy. Coffee or vitamins no longer help us. In time, high blood pressure and diabetes appear. The typical excuse is: “It is the fast pace of life that makes me live like that”, but deep down we know that this life style may have an unhappy ending.
Absence of physical activity not only leads to heart diseases and diabetes, but also increases the risk of cancer. Therefore, we should take care of our health and start exercising! We need to remember, of course, that physical activity has to be well planned, i.e. we have to bear in mind our individual possibilities and with every millimetre of sweat, pay attention to the changing needs of our bodies.
This was the guideline of a pro-health event entitled Running for Health in which ASA participated on 22 May 2016 in Głubczyce. The participants had to cover the distance of 3 km in any way they could: running, walking with poles, walking and pushing baby buggies, cycling or roller skating.
The organizers, the “Together for Głubczyce” Association, in cooperation with local partners, prepared numerous attractions for everyone who decided to spend the day actively. Free-of-charge consultations concerning disease prevention, human nutrition, first aid, massages performed by physiotherapists - these were just some of the attractions offered to those who covered the 3 km distance, as well as their families and friends.
ASA provided many informational and educational materials concerning heart diseases, diabetes, and intimate care for the race participants and everyone attending the event. At our stand, nurses measured blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol levels, as we are well aware of the importance of the value of blood pressure, the lipid profile and glucose level in the selection of the type of activity and in disease prevention. Unfortunately, as we suspected, many people had results considerably departing from the norms. We recommended our preparations Diabetamid, Novocardia and Sterolea to such persons. We offered all women samples of our specialist intimate care dermocosmetics, LaciBios femina and Menoplant intimia, appropriate for their age and needs.
We would like to thank all the participants of the event. We hope that you will continue running for health …
