Lutein is a carotenoid which shows a special relationship to the eyeball; it accumulates in two areas of the eye: in the retinal macula, which constitutes the most important part of the retina, and in the lens. Lutein works as the retina`s natural filter protecting it from UVA and UVB radiation. Lutein and astaxantine play a key role in the anti-oxidizing protection of the eye in disorders connected with the decrease of retinal macula pigments. Anthocyanosides from blueberries present in the preparation exert a stabilizing influence on the eye`s capillary vessels and increase the tension of the veins. They improve microcirculation in the retina and choroid. Antioxidant vitamins (vitamin E and C) are indispensable in the organism's protection from the harmful impact of free radicals. Mineral ingredients, i.e. zinc and selenium are the components of important antioxidant enzymes.
