Vitaton – contains ginseng extract. Ginseng was first mentioned in the first century BCE in China. It was brought to Europe from Japan by Dutch traders in 1610.
The plant's name derives from Chinese where it means "human root" or "root-man" (this refers to the root's characteristic shape, which resembles a human being).
Ginseng (Panax ginseng) contains triterpen saponins (ginsenosides, panaxosides). Diversified glycosylated ginseng saponins (ginsenosides) are considered to be the principal substances determining the biological value of ginseng roots. Apart from triterpen saponins, ginseng contains also phenolic substances, peptides, peptidoglycans, polysaccharides and oil.
