ASA as a friend of AMD patients

On 6 November 2010 the Age-Related Macular Degeneration Association invited its members and patients to a meeting. The objective of the meeting was the discussion of the ever-growing problem of AMD. The meeting was held in Warsaw in the Military Institute of Medicine.

AMD patients had the opportunity of listening to a series of interesting lectures, for instance a lecture given by Małgorzata Figurska, MD, entitled “Controversies in the treatment of exudative AMD” and a lecture given by Magdalena Makarewicz-Wujec, Doctor of Pharmacy, entitled “The latest reports on dietary recommendations in AMD”. At the end of the meeting the participants could get acquainted with novelties in optical instruments presented by Grażyna Machura, MA.

The content-related part of the meeting was concluded with an open discussion in which patients could ask the lecturers questions and share their opinions and experiences concerning their life with AMD.

During the meeting Professor Andrzej Stankiewicz, President of the Association, Dr Andrzej Mądrala, the Vice-president of the Association and Małgorzata Figurska, MD, Secretary of the Association, presented the current activity of the Association and its plans for the nearest future.

ASA, a Member supporting the AMD Association, has been involved in its activity since the very beginning of its existence, for instance, supporting and participating in educational meetings organized for patients and physicians.
