The small but flourishing Mikołaj Kopernik Primary School in Zopowy can be a model to follow for many educational institutions. Ms Mariola Bedryj, who has been the school principal since 2007, together with the entire teaching staff and the Parents’ Council organizes various events (such as dancing parties, fairs, picnics) several times a year, during which she collects funds and goods for the school children and the school.
Various auctions, lotteries and competitions are held during such events and the entire acquired income is spent on the current and planned school projects.
The events are always very popular, and due to the donors’ generosity the school receives considerable amounts of money.
Funds acquired due to such initiatives allow the organization of attractive classes for pupils in a well-equipped building.
They also help pupils to fully develop their talents and make the school a cultural and educational centre for the local community.
ASA is also willing to support such initiatives. On 13 November the local community organized St. Andrew’s Eve Party for which ASA contributed 30 works (mainly paintings) prepared by the Third Age University students and pro-health preparation sets. Money earned from their sale will be another contribution to the development of the school as an attractive, friendly and safe place for the children.
