On 6 August 2011 an integration meeting organised by "The Citizens of the Third Age" Association was held. Established over one year ago in Głubczyce, the organisation embraces senior citizens and pensioners. This time almost all of its members met in Pietrowice Głubczyckie, where they spent their time usefully in a pleasant atmosphere.
The meeting commenced with a lecture organized by ASA and delivered by Dr. Dawid Bączkowicz - a manual physiotherapist specialising in orthopaedics, a lecturer in the Institute of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy of the Opole University of Technology, vice-president of the Indian Summer Association.
For several years ASA has been organising educational classes aiming at the growth of the social awareness of the importance of prophylaxis and physical activity in elderly people. For that purpose, ASA has established cooperation with the Indian Summer Association, which supports the elderly and disabled people.
Thus ASA enables the elderly to have contact with specialists, for example, a physiotherapist, who in their lectures accessibly discuss the causes of health problems in elderly people and present methods of avoiding or eliminating them. After lectures their participants may also receive specialist and free advice, which, as Dr. Bączkowicz noted, frequently is not available within the framework of the National Health Fund.
In his lecture, Dr. Bączkowicz spoke about the serious problems that the elderly might have with their backbones and joints as a result of an inappropriate style of life, lack of exercise, incorrect body positions, overweight or genetic factors. He underlined the symptoms which should make everybody alert and encourage them to visit a specialist. He stressed particularly the importance of preventive measures and dietary supplementation (e.g. with such preparations as Artresan, Osteovit 1000). After the lecture the participants of the meeting were able to get additional information during individual consultations. The event passed off in a very pleasant atmosphere and all participants received little pro-health souvenirs from ASA.
Jan Bażyński, the vice-president of "The Citizens of the Third Age" Association thanked ASA for the organisation of the lecture and expressed his belief that it was just the beginning of the Association's cooperation with the Company. He said that he would like senior citizens and pensioners - members of the Association - to be able to meet a specialist and discuss their health, everyday problems and future during every integration meeting accompanied by a grill or bonfire party.
