Our Company has organized another lecture on pro-health subjects for the Third Age University students. This time we were invited to the Zacisze [Retreat] Culture House in Warsaw, where on 24 January 2011 Ms Magdalena Mokrogulska, MSc, a dietician permanently cooperating with our Company and a specialist in nutrition, gave a lecture.
The Third Age University welcomed the invited guests with a performance of a choir consisting of the University students and conducted by a guest from Serbia - Branko Tadić, a performer and teacher of traditional Balkan music, singer and accordionist, who presented traditional Balkan songs. Branko Tadić gave also a solo song recital to the accompaniment of an accordion.
Ms Magdalena Mokrogulska, a dietician and graduate of the Faculty of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, has been giving lectures all over Poland in cooperation with our Company for a long time. In her lectures, she promotes dietary prophylaxis of the diseases of civilization. The lecture in Warsaw was devoted to a diet used in the so-called metabolic syndrome, which is frequent among the Polish population and carries with it many risks, in particular for people aged 40 and more. The lecture entitled The metabolic syndrome - its occurrence, health risks, dietary prophylaxis aroused considerable interest among the Third Age University students. At the end of the meeting, every participant received our Company's pro-health products, a guidebook written by Ms Mokrogulska, as well as a magazine published by ASA, "Appetite for Health".
An interesting element of the meeting was also a sign language lesson in which the basic notions referring to the meeting were presented by Marta Abramczyk, a graduate of the specialised secondary school in the School and Education Centre for Hearing-Impaired People.
Knowledge of this very important issue, presented in a professional way, will allow many people to take appropriate steps aiming at a change in their nutrition patterns. In case of any doubts and difficulties in the selection of an appropriate diet, the participants can always consult Ms Mokrogulska, who deals also with other nutrition problems concerning people with special requirements in this respect. She recommends her patients a special diet in the period of the menopause. Its objective is the alleviation of the negative symptoms in the difficult but also beautiful time in every woman's life. Because of considerable interest in this matter, our Company has prepared another guide entitled "Hypertension during the menopause". It is available in pharmacies all over Poland.
