print"Runners" from the Active People Club in Częstochowa as well as members of their families and the club's sympathizers have welcomed the New Year in an unusual way. It was on 2 January 2011 at noon, in the "Lisiniec" recreation park in Częstochowa.
The amateur sportsmen who popularize running as the simplest way of physical activity for everyone, regardless of their age, met in order to face a new challenge this time - winter swimming.
It was their first meeting this year but surely not the last one.
The meeting was held in a great atmosphere, with Christmas decorations, a firework show and chilled champagne tasting. There was also hot tea served and many pictures were taken.
It is very important for winter swimming enthusiasts to warm up before entering the blowhole. That is why the Runners, who have a passion for running, warm up intensely during a twenty-minute run. The remaining "Walruses" and "Seals" (women) warm up doing some exercises or playing ball or tag.
Many of the Runners join the club because of family traditions. Observing their closest relatives, they can see the beneficial effects of winter swimming on their health. The consequence of building up one's resistance by cold baths is either the total absence of illnesses among the winter swimming enthusiasts or very mild infections only.
Whoever tries this sport once (and every healthy person can practice it), usually becomes positively "addicted" and after each bath is bursting with energy for a long time.
The Runners invite all positively twisted people who look ahead with optimism and are not afraid to face new challenges to join them.
