The fifth edition of the "Healthy Wadowice" event was held on 13 September 2015 in Wadowice. On that day, the town inhabitants and the invited guests could take advantage of free-of-charge consultations and tests, such as osteoporosis tests, ECG, heart echo, mammography, spirometry, carotid artery, lymph nodes and thyroid gland ultrasound tests. It was also possible to have an ophthalmologic examination for glaucoma or AMD.
ASA also visited - for the first time - the park in Wadowice in which the so-called "white town" was established. At our stand, blood pressure as well as sugar and cholesterol level in blood was measured.
For many years, ASA has actively participated in pro-health campaigns the objective of which is making Poles aware of the risk of absence of proper preventive measures, also with regard to the cardiovascular system diseases. Thanks to such campaigns many people can not only have their blood pressure, sugar and total cholesterol level measured, but also get free-of-charge consultations with a dietician. This was the case in the Wadowice event, too, where dietician Maria Brzegowy answered all questions concerning diets and the role of dietary supplementation. The preparations Sterolea, Novocardia and Diabetamid were the strategic partners of our stand and a competition concerning disease prevention.
This year, the guests of the "Healthy Wadowice" event were also physicians from the Clinical Ward of Coronary Heart Disease and Cardiac Insufficiency with a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the John Paul II Hospital in Kraków, who performed heart echo tests and provided people with cardiac consultations. Dr Anna Kruger from the Lung Disease Ward at the same hospital offered pulmonary consultations and spirometry tests.
Dr Ida Cedrych, an oncologist, answered very difficult questions both on the stage and at her stand.
"Healthy Wadowice" is a campaign which should become a model for other town authorities, because, as it is commonly known, disease prevention is fundamental.
