For many years ASA has supported the Polish Nationwide Olympics of the Universities of the Third Age and the Senior Citizens' Organizations.
The annual Senior Citizens’ Olympics in Łazy is not just a sports competition. It is also integration, singing, dancing and experiencing joyful moments together. It is also about taking care of a good health condition, which is a value forming a part of ASA’s pro-health policy. For us, health is the most important.
The eighth edition of the Olympics was traditionally held in May in Łazy. 57 organizations from Poland and from abroad (e.g. from Austria and Ukraine) participated in it.
The participants competed in 10 disciplines: swimming, athletics, cross country cycling, canoe racing, table tennis, shooting, boules, bridge, chess and archery. The partners of the Olympics made sure that, apart from the competition, the participants could also take advantage of free-of-charge tests and consultations.
Nurses measured blood pressure, fat tissue, glucose and cholesterol level in blood, BMI, performed ECG examinations, and physicians assessed the results and offered advice pertaining to cardiology and internal medicine.
We hope that Polish seniors will take good care of their health on a daily basis, i.e. they will have regular medical examinations, they will exercise and eat properly, and if necessary, for instance when their test results depart from the norms, they will use such preparation as Novocardia, Sterolea or Diabetamid, which our firm donated as prizes for the Olympics participants.
It is worth remembering that apart from exercising, a proper diet, good habits, avoiding stressful situations and stimulants and, of course, a positive attitude play an important role in health care. And the participants of the Olympics definitely did not lack these. We would like to thank the University of the Third Age in ŁAZY, in particular Ms Krystyna Męcik, for inviting us as partners of the Olympics, for the good example they give to senior citizens, and for the long lasting friendship with ASA.
