The final of the nationwide campaign entitled "Beautiful because healthy" organized as part of the activities against cervical cancer conducted by the Flower of Womanhood Association was held on 30 January 2012.
Famous Polish celebrities participated in the ceremonial gala crowning the European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week. These celebrities, dressed in beautiful red dresses, strongly encouraged women to have regular cytological examinations.
"I do not whisper into your ear, I speak out loud - I have had a cytological examination, how about you?" This was the motto of the meeting. Of all the campaign Ambassadors, the following stars participated in the gala: Agata Młynarska, Katarzyna Zielińska, Anna Popek, Katarzyna Pakosińska, Ewa Pacuła, Agnieszka Popielewicz, Maja Hirsch and Aleksandra Woźniak.
"The Flower of Womanhood" is the Polish National Association Against Cervical Cancer established by women who have fought the disease and won the battle.
Statistics concerning cervical cancer in Poland are still frightening. Women united in "The Flower of Womanhood" organize a support group for women who have found out about the disease and do not want to stay alone in the battle.
The organization has also become actively involved in educational activities aiming at the popularization of knowledge of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is a disease which can be avoided, fought against and what is most important - you can win the battle. Regular cytological examinations are the basic measures.
We want women to understand that cytological examinations save their lives and we want them not to postpone their regular visits at gynaecologists, says Ida Karpińska, the Chairwoman of the Flower of Womanhood who also suffered from cancer.
I have won a difficult battle against the disease, I am alive, and the positive side effect of my disease is the establishment of the organization.
People and institutions who are not indifferent to the problem of women's health in Poland have been involved in the "Beautiful because healthy" programme. For many years, our company has been involved in educational activities aiming at the popularization of knowledge of preventive measures and the change of women's awareness of their own health. We also speak and write openly about the risks related to cervical cancer. We organize cyclical workshops for women with the participation of various specialists.
The foundation has duly appreciated our involvement and understanding of the importance of disease prevention. During the final gala, "the Pearls of Wisdom" - special distinctions - were granted to institutions, organizations and people who support the campaign against cervical cancer day by day. One of "the Pearls of Wisdom" was granted to our company as well. Apart from the statuettes, each of the winners received also a unique bunch of cytological brushes, instead of flowers.
It does not take much to take care of one's health early enough to win a good, because healthy life.
